It’s so hard to say goodbye to the nightcrawler poet.
The one who can’t help it ’cause he’s drunk.
I keep sayin I’m goin straight in the mornin’.
But I’ll be stronger in the morning than I thunk.

I’ve seen it happen, seen it all come down in the rain.
Rules are for the wicked. Here we go again.
I don’t want to be like the sober.
Of what I’m going thru, they haven’t a clue.
But lately I can feel it in my body.
It don’t do what it used to do.

Lord all my clean dreams are boring as hell.
Just one more day eternity.
Even if I do become the man of her dreams,
then who is going to be me?
